David Fincher is such an incredible director. I'm thankful he continues to create dark and fascinating films. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is no different, except for the fact that I'd already seen the Swedish take on the source material. Had I not, this movie would have surely blown my mind. I'm not used to knowing who the killer is. I find it takes away from much of the tension and suspense. Regardless, I'll try and refrain from comparing the two from now on.

The highest praise has to go to Rooney Mara for committing to the most sought after female roll in years. Her accent, her look, her pain are brilliantly displayed. The character is both frightening and fragile. On a personal note: goth is hot. Mara's Salander gave me a rager many a time throughout (except one obviously not sexy scene; remember, I'm spoiler free). I was surprised that Fincher was able to pull off eroticism and that Mara was way keen on showing boob... and even hint of bush! Seam in pants tightening...

Ok, I'm back.

Fincher was able to do what Ron Howard and many other directors could never dream of achieving; adapting a popular book. Maybe it's because the source material is so right up his alley going all the way back to the directors early roots (no, not Alien 3).
