Review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) by Douglas L — 05 Mar 2013
A viciously intense thriller, much more compelling and well-crafted than the 2011 Hollywood remake, retaining the haunting themes and references to misogyny and images of Salander's tortured past, things that Fincher's film all but neglects or passively glosses over.
The remake also loses the raw Swede edginess that permeates this whole film, and with Swedish dialogue and English subtitles, the film just feels more authentic.
