Review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) by Jill S — 10 Jan 2012
The best films come out of the unsuspected, just as it happened with Niels Arden Oplev's adaptation of the Stieg Larsson novel "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." Here is a film, which dares to go to the required dark places, to play out one of the best serial killer thrillers since "The Silence of the Lambs.".
With an unlikely hero, Mikael Blomkvist, an uncovering journalist put on a search for a missing woman. He finds assistance solving this case in an even less likely but fascinating heroine: Lisbeth Salander (played fearlessly by Noomi Rapace). While doing so, she sees an opportunity to heal her deep wounds, which have been inflicted on her by the cruel world she lives in.
Not often can a film keep me on my toes from minute one through the end, this one belongs to the rare exceptions. Can Hollywood do the same?
