Review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) by Hanif M — 20 Mar 2012

Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Myqvist) is an investigative journalist hired by an old man to uncover secrets behind a forty year old murder. He's barred by a disturbing family of aristocrats, but Mikael finds unlikely help from a brilliant computer hacker (Noomi Rapace) with a troubled past.

Their search leads to dark corners, some of which seem like affected plot contrivances. At the same time, I found myself invested in the storyline and interested in the personal details of the characters.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo isn't the best mystery thriller I've ever seen, but it did hit upon most of the strengths of its genre.
