Review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) by Antony G — 01 Jun 2013
The first foreign film with subtitles I've ever sat the whole way through! This is a totally engrossing film & despite having read the book it still kept me gripped right to the end. It has a dark side as well with scenes many will find distressing. The good thing about this film is that Hollywood, the time it was filmed, hadn't got their dirty little fingers all over it so it stayed true to the book. I'm really not looking forward to seeing Hollywood's adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel.
Mikael Blomkvist, an investigative reporter, is hired by Henrik Vanger of the powerful Vanger family to investigate the murder of his beloved Grandniece, who had mysteriously disappeared without a trace 40 years earlier. Blomkvist soon digs up the families dirty little secrets & new leads into Harriet Vanger's disappearance. It soon transpires that Harriet's suspected murder had links to other murders around Sweden. With the help of an expert Hacker, Lisbeth Salander, they uncover the truth behind Harriet's disappearance & the anti Semitic motivated murders.
