Review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) by Ton Q — 15 Mar 2015

Niels Arden Oplev's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a fantastic Sweden film that makes me wonder if David FIncher's version is ever going to be as good as this. Noomi Repace did a fantastic job in it and so is Michael Nyqvist.

The plot is great but the surprising part that makes it better than the plot, is the characters. They are very memorable, especially Lisbeth Salander, and you can tell that the screenwriters put a lot of effort and thought into them that you actually want to see more of them.

The movie is long, but it keeps you invested to know who did it. The plot just leaves you guessing every time to the point that you have no idea who the villain is. When it does, it's really shocking and effective.

The chemistry between the two main leads are quite something that I never seen before and I wanted to see where it lies in the sequels. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo may not be for everybody as there are some graphic moments that some viewers will not be able to handle, but it still is an amazing film that leads you wanting more about the characters, especially Lisbeth Salander.
