Review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) by Peter H — 31 Mar 2012
This has to be one of the most interesting and complex character driven mystery/thrillers in recent memory. The story is complex and detailed but well layed out and never too difficult to follow. It is well paced and never really gets bogged down, making the 2 and a half hour running time pass by without feeling as long as it is.
The performances are great across the board, but the portrayal of Lisbeth Salander by Noomi Rapace is worth the price of admission alone. She truely infuses the prickly character with a level of humanity that allows the audience to empathize with her and understand some of why she is the way she is.
This is daring and ambitious film making at its finest and will not be a movie that will soon be forgotten by those who see it. Shocking and heartbreaking at times, it can be difficult to watch at times, but it is always interesting and is a film that should be seen.
Recommended for anyone who enjoys a solid and well thought out mystery/thriller with interesting characters. Go and see it. You won't be sorry.
