Review of The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009) by Shadow007 — 04 Jul 2011
It is inevitable that a sequel will be compared with its predecessor. This film is nowhere near as good as the first film. While it is still a good film the story is not as strong and is somewhat poorly developed with characters and plot lines seemingly emerging at random at some points of the film.
While Rapace's performance was as good as in 'Dragon Tattoo', Nyqvist's portrayal seemed blunted this time around. The failure to resolve the initial storyline - the human trafficking - while perhaps something that will be left to the next film - seemed odd and disappointing.
Nonetheless, it is still very much worth watching despite not living up to the standard of the first.
