Review of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) by Vivienne Y — 03 Mar 2008
While the theme of temporaility / time travel and the ethics that would have to surround such a possibility are a very popular and frequently recurring theme in sci-fi, here we have something a bit different.
Social/teenage milieu, no sci-fi to speak of other than the actual 'leaps' and ethics imposed on us as a self-learned phenomenon, not a didactic process. On top of that, the film is very warm, the characters amiable and not entirely flat, and the subtleties not always addressed.
Not an epic, but definitely a keeper!
