Review of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) by Dian R — 01 Oct 2007
"I'll be waiting in the future".

It gets you straight into it. Then slows down, but ends on such a high.
Some of the visuals for time travel in this movie are superb. There's a real joy involved in the "leaping" and you can't help but join in on the fun.
The opening bike crash leading into a leap is stunningly put together. You realy feel it's effects especially when revisted in the movie.
The middle act is a little weak. Her trips to and fro to avoid or change things are fun but not very engaging but it all adds up for the final act. The whimsikal nature of our main character is soon used to make her grow up.
The final act just pays it all off ten fold. A few twists, some real emoton and such a fantastic look to the animation just makes it all slot perfectly into place.
It all goes from the joys of youth to almost a melcholy tale where a lesson is learnt and the score just sets it off beutifully. A real gem of a movie and deserves to grow and grow inpopulatirty. But I guess as it's not balls to the wall acton, it probably won't this side of the pond. Ahh well. See it, love it tell people about it.
