Review of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) by Rox T — 27 Sep 2009
This movie begins as something completely trivial and ends with such a huge emotional knockout. And what an ending it is..... It's perhaps a bit too ambiguous for anyone to create his own theory and to freely speculate about the entire meaning behind the plot of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
The direction by Mamoru Hasoda was funny, gentle and heart-warming, and just as clever as the script, which boasts some funny dialogue and excellent writing. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's character designs are always a pleasure, and the art direction was simply unforgettable. The theme song coupled with the ending make this flick a highly memorable albeit sad romance story. I for one, saw it as hopeful and reassuring at the ending however.
