Review of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) by Théo C — 11 Sep 2016
Beautiful art direction (despite some oddly placed CGI that was more of a distraction than anything) but overly sentimental. In the end, I really didn't care what happened to any of the main characters.
The time-travel mechanic was used fairly well throughout most of the movie, but it's possibilities are squandered in the end by the writer trying to be too profound or philosophical. The entirety of the film doesn't have enough emotional heft to support whatever "statement" it's trying to make in the final moments.
I'd only recommend this to people who are VERY into anime. It wouldn't be one I'd suggest to the casual viewer.
