Review of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (1997) by Antti Q — 18 Sep 2009
Despite obvious temptations, it would be wrong to judge this film on the merits of science fiction alone. for one, its handling of time travel is so juvenile that it makes donnie darko seem like rocket science.
luckily the timeleap is just used as a subplot to bring out the more important aspects this anime is concerned about: adolescence, romance, life, you get the idea. On a side note, if you find Makoto vaguely familiar, that's because the character design is done by the artist in Gainax responsible for Neon EVangelion Genesis.
No wonder Makoto resembles Shinji and Chiaki reminds me of Kaoru.
