Review of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (2009) by Jeremy T — 16 Feb 2011
The 3rd film in the adaptation of Stieg Larsson's Millenium Trilogy is a non-stop ride of revenge, retribution and the sins of the past being atoned for in the present.
This was my favorite of the three novels and, as the longest in the trilogy, the most challenging to capture on film. Several sub-plots from the novel are combined into the main story of this film, or just left out. However, Daniel Alfredson has done an amazing job of bringing these novels to the big screen and the portions that are covered are picture perfect in detail.
Once again, Noomi Rapace as the unjustly imprisoned Lisbeth Salendar and Michael Nyqvist as her savior are perfectly cast and I simply cannot see the American versions of these films to come anywhere near the emotional intensity that Alfredson has created with this brilliant trilogy of movies.
