Review of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (2009) by Andy L — 18 Apr 2011
This was a horrible adaptation of the novel, barely even reminding the viewer of the story presented in the book. Because of a poor second film story, they have to shoe-horn a ton of stuff into this movie to make it even passable.
Most of the best parts of the book are left out or ignored; many of the characters and actions were forced to change due to the poor plotting of the previous movie and having no setup for this third movie.
Noomi Rapace is good, once again, as Lisbeth Salander. The rest of the cast is serviceable. But they are let down by a bad script and lackluster direction.
Hopefully the American remakes are being made with an eye toward a trilogy and with plot hooks and points consistent to set up each movie and payoff in the denouement of the last film, as in the books.
