Review of The Girl on the Train (2016) by Trish B — 15 Oct 2016
I think alot of people miss the point of Rachel's character. She is the alcoholic trainwreck of a person due to the emotionally abusive treatment of her narcissistic (ex) husband Tom. But she does not know this is what she has experienced, instead believing she is worthless.
It is her story of unraveling through showing courage to confront her ex that enables her to become 'the girl she once was'. This is a powerful film just on this point alone. Portraying 3 different women who have all fallen for the narcissist; paints for us a picture of how seductive his influence is.
Three different outcomes for each. True to life. Loved the performances. And yes, it held me all the way through.
