Review of The Girl on the Train (2016) by Ryan C — 19 Oct 2016
"The Girl on the Train" does showcase great dramatic performances by Emily Blunt and Justin Theroux, however, it tends to be overly dramatic which stumps on its most thrilling moments. There are very intense scenes with all the blood and screaming you'd expect, as well as some great twists, but director Tate Taylor uses a flashback timeline that becomes confusing and annoying.
In addition, it is obvious that Taylor was looking to use the same elements that made "Gone Girl" a smashing hit; a dark storyline filled with many thrills and a huge climax that leads the audience asking so many questions.
