Review of The Girl on the Train (2016) by Scott C — 02 Nov 2016
Emily Blunt finally gets a lead role she can sink her teeth into and she's incredibly good in The Girl on the Train. I wish I could say the same for the film itself. What starts out as a genuinely interesting and thoughtful Hitchcockian thriller quickly turns into a glorified Lifetime movie by the film's midpoint and only gets more inept from there, including a "twist" that one would have to be blind not to see coming from miles away.
Entertaining enough for a rainy Sunday, but there's not much of note here except a wonderful performance by Blunt.
