Review of The Girl on the Train (2016) by Christopher H — 27 Nov 2016
Mood, and melodrama overtake this uninteresting thriller. As a fan of Emily Blunt, it was disappointing to watch her do only one thing: being bewildered and confused (like her work in Sicario). The film looks great, but the structure feels contrived and false.
Major beat points feel either unfocused and impertinent or completely forced to further the plot. By the end, I really didn't care as it was trying very hard to be this year's Gone Girl.
