Review of The Girl on the Train (2016) by Nell A — 18 Jan 2017
I've heard so many disappointed reviews about this, and I don't really understand why. Perhaps because I never read the book. But I was deeply affected by this movie; as a woman, as a woman who has felt worthless, who has been made to believe other people's faults were hers.
I see a very deep thread of redemption and healing for the wounded in this story, and it portrays a very fragile, real sisterhood that exists between how we hurt together by hurting each other. The movie never bored me, the acting was good (some pretty big names here and there popping up!).
Perhaps this movie is only suited for those of us who (a) haven't read the book and (b) know what it's like to rise not just from ashes, but from a lack of ashes to rise from.
