Review of The Girl on the Train (2016) by Bradley J — 12 Nov 2016
Perhaps not working as well on screen as it did on the page, The Girl on the Train is a wholly preposterous and anticlimactic thriller. However, there is no doubt that it suspends you on its rails for its duration gripping you with its ridiculous but entertaining plot.
The three lead women turn in solid performances in rather exploitative roles and the men get the thin and rather misogynistic roles. It's not Gone Girl this, but fun enough. It'll divide the hardcore feminists who will enjoy three lead women, but will dislike how they are treated for the most part in the film.
It's enjoyable entertainment, but nothing you'll remember in a weeks time. Rating: 58.
