Review of The Girl on the Train (2016) by Lou R — 12 Oct 2016
I think it's fine for a one time watch but it is nowhere near as good as the book. The book is superbly compelling and the way it is put together makes it a real page turner. I feel like you really don't need to watch this movie if you haven't read the book since it is so much lower in quality.
It follows the story decently well despite some unnecessary changes. It's a pretty slow movie that is easy to follow if you've read it but I think the narrative doesn't flow as well in the movie.
Some of the dialogue is pretty cheesy but I still enjoyed the mystery and the way it ends. It's an ok movie that is far surpassed by the book but I don't think it is unwatchable. Emily Blunt does a pretty good job and the rest of the performances are fine.
The movie drags on and I think you could speed through the addictive book opposed to spending two hours watching this movie. It's fine, but don't rush out to see it.
