Review of The Girl of the Golden West (1938) by Bernard A — 16 Aug 2008

Ahh, this is a fantastic movie! --My favorite of the duo Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy! Their characters are very unlike those of their other films together; moreso for MacDonald than for Eddy. Although I love the French Revolutionary Aristocrats or opera stars they often played, it's so much more fun and believable to see them in a glorified western! And, it's also quite amusing to hear Eddy's outrageous Mexican bandito accent! Though, I have to say, Jed Clampett's song was very bizarre.
