Review of The Girl Next Door (2004) by Jason R — 02 Sep 2012
An inventive twist on the teen sex comedy that isn't quite to the level of American Pie, but also not down to the bottom of the barrel like Porky's. The male hypocrisy against sexually active women is right in the middle of all of this, which is not something typically delved into in films, and the cast is very clever in addressing it without killing the comedic aspects of the movie along the way.
The movie is anything but typical of its genre, which makes it stand out. However, it never really rises up and seizes the moment, dwelling in the in-between of average and good. That said, it is not a waste of time by any stretch.
It is fun, just silly enough and just heartwarming enough to be worthwhile.
