Review of The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018) by Hector V — 10 Nov 2018
Álvarez continues Fincher's signature style from "Dragon Tattoo" in "Spider's Web," nailing the director's calculated, smart vibe while adding his own flourishes with a chilling running spider motif and effortlessly cool sequences of suspenseful action and intrigue.
Unfortunately, apart from Álvarez's sleek directing, it's a film whose impact gets largely lost within a convoluted story and lack of apparent stakes, character, or emotion.
