Review of The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018) by Brian T — 12 Nov 2018
Original trilogy > 1st watered down American redo > This 2nd action mary sue american re-redo. This is yet another case of modern Hollywood taking something great and using their limited NPC imaginations to just make it an action movie where the female kicks butt.
The lead and all the supporting actors lack depth and this movie hardly resembles the series that was a best seller and gripping mystery in its original european movie trilogy format. The first American movie version inevitably toned down a lot of what made the original a gritty mystery/ suspense series.
Now its the cliche mary sue treatment where Lizbeth becomes an action hero and loses the vulnerability and enigma status that made the original a masterpiece. The characters are just shallow imitations of what they used to be and this was a remake that did not need to be redone yet again in a less imaginative SJW modern twist.
Go see the orginals if you only saw the americanized version, you will see what you were missing.
