A+ The best thing that this film offers is how great and thrilling this movie is directed and written by Joel Edgerton that makes me appreciate him more for how well he can make a movie. This by far is the biggest surprise of 2015 because not only is Joel Edgerton's directing and writing a major surprise, but Jason Bateman is in this film gives the best performance of his career so far and also Rebecca Hall giving a great performance. This is the kind of film get's better as it goes on for the terrific direction and great acting that feel like the actors are real for how well their introduced and the direction that made this film so gripping because the movie get's better as it goes on for how well it's directed making this film exciting without any explosions and just adding so much tension when our main characters are facing q major problem. The film is best viewed without knowing a thing since the trailer marks this film as a cliche horror thriller when the movie is really about a couple dealing with grief and drama that there might be a man from his past that is still trying to haunt them and the movie get's more interesting and intense as it goes on filled with twists and turns that make this film better than how it already is. You know where the film is going which makes this film so special. A tiny flaw with the film is that there are some false scares that are just annoying and that's about it. This is a film either people will get bored with or really invested in the characters and the psychological war that's going on between Bateman's and Edgerton's character that makes the film so intense without any kills going on. It's what's going on with the characters and how well written they are and the story is. Also that this is an original film not based of anything which also makes this film better. The Gift is the biggest surprise of 2015 with everything including Joel Edgerton's fantastic directing, acting and writing. The acting is great, the tension and intensity in this film keep building on and make the film more investing as it went on. No spoilers but when the film ended, I just stood there with my mouth dropping on how great this film was and to all people that call this overrated, give it a try because this film is fantastic from the directing, to the acting, to the writing and how thrilling the film got as it went on.

Rating: 95% and an A+.
