Review of The Gift (2015) by Marco34La — 07 Aug 2015
I went to see The Gift based upon the critic score and some of the reviewers here (see thegodfatherson), however I'm convinced that some of the user reviews like the aforementioned are most likely put out by the studios who created the film.
I was very underwhelmed when I saw it, as were most of the people I went with. It wasn't bad -- the acting was good, the story was plausible -- but it lacked tension and suspense. It's a drama/suspense.
There were two good scares in the film, but that's it. Again - think drama... and then a drama that turns into a preachy message. The movie is supposed to end on a highly dramatic suspenseful event, but you really don't care.
Given the options this weekend - think - Fanatstic4 - you might consider The Gift, but if you haven't seen Mission Impossible, that would be the better choice. That was fun. This is a Netflix movie folks.
