"The Gift" is one of the best suspense thrillers I've ever seen. A really fun question I'm now able to wonder is "what was better? Get Out, or The Gift?".
As one reviewer on RT puts it "the move is almost unbearably tense," and from start to finish, that is absolutely true. Every consecutive shot has an uneasiness to it, and what each of those shots means to the story is always unpredictable.
Another appreciated strength that this has over Get Out and many horror movies is there is nothing supernatural in this movie. It's an awesome movie built on just raw, creepy, human suspense.
Finally, you just gotta love a movie with a GREAT ENDING, unpredictable, yet complete, whereas so many great movies can never quite stick the landing.
Absolutely a masterpiece that I'll be thinking about for a while!
