Review of The Gift (2000) by Daniel T — 26 Nov 2007
I really loved this movie for it's subtleties. I wouldn't go as far as calling this a horror movie, but a strong sense of the supernatural. The acting is top notch, especially Cate Blanchett (incredible in most roles).
She is perfectly cast as the southern psychic, coping with the loss of her husband, raising 3 kids on her own, and suffering from disturbing visions. It isn't as far fetched as most movies in it's genre, I think it could appeal to people who don't usually like 'scary' movies.
It has it's moments of cliche jumps, but all is forgiven by the end with a great twist!
