Review of The Gift (2000) by Elaine M — 18 Dec 2007
A Sam Raimi spectacle, starring Blanchett and Swank who are both brilliant, and Giovanni Ribisi who is quite possibly the greatest actor alive. Holmes and Reeves are shit, but they play horrible characters who suffer, so it's all justified.
Although the plot isn't mind-warpingly complex, there's still enough substance to hold attention through to the end, and god I LOVE it when films go my way. The psychic stuff is awesome, although I have to say Ribisi is the one with the real gift :).
I can understand the point of view of anti-fans, but it worked well for me...
