Review of The Ghost and the Darkness (1996) by Dennis C — 15 Apr 2008
Val Kilmer shows early signs of the super straight man turned introspective hero that he is doomed to play then and nowadays as an old man. His best work is as doc holiday and the saint, and this one is a nice accompaniment.
Beautiful shots of Africa and wildlife and interesting protayel of colonialism in regards to hindu. and muslim relations. Halfway through Michael Douglas shows up and your all like wtf why is he in this movie.
Then just as soon as he joins the movie he leaves. Then you see the end credits and the Executive Produced by Michael Douglas and you say, "Ah well at least he isn't as bad as Drew Barrymore in putting himself in movies that he has no business being in just because he paid for them.
