Review of The Ghost and the Darkness (1996) by Gavin S — 13 Oct 2010
Humans have an irrational fear: that all other animals think we are tasty. But what if an animal was killing people, not to make them snacks but because it liked killing? essentially that is the concept of this film, based on a true incident, where two male lions began slaughtering railroad workers in Africa.
It's a very flawed film--Michael Douglas's character was invented for the film and is an overacted cliche--but it has its moments. The attack on a temporary hospital by the lions is particularly harrowing.
all in all worth a look, but hardly a classic.
