Review of The Ghost and the Darkness (1996) by Minya A — 19 Nov 2011
The Ghost and the Darkness is by no means a flawless film but I'd call it genuine light entertainment.
I'm pretty sure, no, I even know that lions definitely don't hunt that way but who cares. And I also know that Val Kilmer is not Irish - and I think he didn't even tried - surrounded by accomplished British actors like Tom Wilkinson and Bernard Hill he seems even more lost.
It's a thrilling experience that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Moreover, the African setting around 1900 is something you don't see everyday and I kinda like these colonial topics, uniforms, cultural clashes...
