Review of The Ghost and the Darkness (1996) by Cal ( — 20 Nov 2007
A famous bridge engineer (Kilmer) heads off to Africa on his latest project, to build a bridge in record time. In no time two man-eating lions attack the campsite, and start mauling the innocent builders.
They are forced to stop until the lions are caught to stop all the killings of the builders. After a while, famous lion hunter (Douglas) comes in to attempt to finish the job. This film can be classified as a horror, as it has some devastating and shocking moments, but it can also be classified as trash as the plotline is not realistic and the acting isn't that good! I must comment on Douglas' great acting though, he was outstanding and it's really sad he's not around for the entire duration of the film, as he would have lightened it up on some level.
There are some interesting moments, and some outstanding effects, but the characters are killed off without mercy and the film becomes a pathetic hunter movie.
