Review of The Ghastly Ones (1968) by Lee ? — 25 Aug 2010
On one hand, "The Ghastly Ones" tells a coherent, though moronic 19th century greedy-relatives-fighting-over-inheritance caper. On the other hand, you can actually hear Milligan directing his actors from behind the camera.
Not to mention both hands become detached with the absurd ease one would expect from one of Andy's blood-soaked efforts. Judging from what we see here, he believes humans are like insects, with limbs designed to detach if latched onto by a predator, or in this case, lopped off by a hatchet wielding hooded housekeeper.
Bonus half star for the hilarious truncated ending: "Lawyer Dobbs?!?!?!?!!!".
