Review of The General's Daughter (1999) by Alex W — 22 Jun 2007
This movie had a chance to fly under the radar as a somewhat dark and disturbing thriller. It could have succeeded in this by staying away from typical hollywood actors and some formulaic filmmaking. Unfortunately it has John Travolta whom comes carrying a backpack of every generic hollywood trick in the book.
This movie very quickly loses it's credibility as a smart thriller, and instead becomes just a mediocre attempt at being a really good film. This is unfortunate because the premise has a lot of promise.
Perhaps they should have been willing to be a bit more daring and sell this movie on the story rather then star power.
