Review of The Gatekeepers (2012) by John M — 12 Mar 2013
This film is enlightening and brutal at the same time. This documentary examines Israel's conflicts with the Arab world and their use of force and through interviews with 6 former heads of Shin Bet, Israel's intelligence agency.
It serves as a history lesson about Israel and its conflict with the Palestinians, reveals Shin Bet's tactics, and discusses the morality and legality of their anti-terrorist actions. It's quite revealing.
The former chiefs of Shin Bet speak quite openly about their past actions and speculate about the future of the region. The graphics and animation used throughout the film were striking. Overall, it's a very revealing and insightful film about a very disturbing but real subject.
I'm just glad I live in a country where I don't have to fear for my life and my family's life on a daily basis!
