Review of The Gate (1987) by Sean D — 11 Oct 2014
First and foremost, we have a rare gem here for a number of reasons. PG-13 horror flicks didn't become a mainstay till the '00s. So I would assume that this was an especially rare sight to behold in 1987. Also, the generic white family with the older sister and younger brother is served up entirely different as they work together with little arguing to combat the evil.
Never thought I'd see some of the things I am in this film. The Demons are more of the gargoyle Pike style as opposed to the horned Baphomet style as seen in the following years Night of the Demons. The way the evil is combatted is hillarious. There is just one death, but that death is reversed. The film barely makes any sense, but that shouldn't be much of a surprise.
