Review of The Game Plan (2007) by Lion S — 20 May 2009
Yet another cliched family comedy from Walt Disney Pictures, this time starring Dwayne Johnson as an NFL player at the top of his game who discovers that he has a daughter, let comical chaos ensue. The Game Plan is a sweet and often funny family movie but it doesn't help that this genre has been done to death.
Johnson has good comic timing and the chemistry between him and his characters long-lost daughter works perfectly. The dramatic scenes and football games are directed well and the film is at its strongest in these scenes, yet the film does run a little too long and ten or fifteen minutes could have been trimmed out.
A charming movie that will entertain family audiences and is worth a look, just don't expect anything special. 6/10.
