Review of The Gallows (2015) by Will K — 08 Jul 2015
"The Gallows" is better than I expected but still not all that original. Similar to a "Blair Witch Project" meets "Paranormal Activity" with a new backdrop, it has all the typical cliches but is somewhat saved by its unexpected twist ending.
There's a few effective jump scares, most of which are in the trailer, but I'm so glad to say that the over advertised scene from the trailer of the girl getting dragged down the hall by the noose is not the final shot of the film.
In my opinion, the ending saves the recycled story. Not as solid as "Insidious: Chapter 3" but miles ahead of the "Poltergeist" reboot.
