Review of The Gallows (2015) by Daniel V — 10 Jul 2015
"The Gallows" uses a unique premise to try and inject some new life into the hit-or-miss 'found footage' subgenre of horror. Its ideas are well-crafted and meticulously placed throughout the movie to give it a solid atmosphere and a constant level of edge-of-your-seat terror to accompany its interesting plot basis.
Unfortunately, the rest of the film is a mess -- the script is a cliche-ridden piece of garbage, the characters are unlikable, the acting is atrocious, and there is never a moment where the tension ever boils over into legitimate horror that is anything other than unoriginal pop-out scares.
This film had endless potential that was hampered by its many flaws.
