Review of The Gallows (2015) by Will J — 11 Jul 2015
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
At this point in the horror genre nothing is in disguise. Everything is predictable. The storyline is horrible. You can predict everything coming in left and right. Cassidy, the main character is very, very annoying. Throughout the entire movie she's constantly yelling at her boyfriend. I'm glad she died early in the film. Pfeifer was annoying as well. Throughout the movie she didn't care about the killer going on the loose. She only care about the stupid play that was going on. When her character arrived on screen first thing I thought was she better die first or early in the film. It's a bummer she was the only survivor. Ryan may have been one of the only roles that actually meant something. He was the guy who was large and in charge. If he would have lived, it would not have made as good as an ending. But with that said, this movie is still horrible. Reese, who basically took charge when Ryan died was a great character. Him and Pfeifer where the ones that lived the longest. Near the end, the ghost or wheatear you want to call it, wants them to rein act the play "The Gallows". In the original play the character that Reese play dies in real life because of a stage malfunction. So back to what I was saying. They rein act the play and the ghost kills Reese.
In the original play the kid that died, his name was Charlie. He had a girlfriend that went to the play that night and watched him die. Now that the play is being re-done, she went to every practice that they had. The kids in the play realized she was not a parent. Ryan then asks her who she is and she tells him.
When Reese died, him Ryan, Cassidy, and Pfeifer were the only ones in the school. Charlie's girlfriend began to clap after Reese's death.
At the end of the film, we find out that Pfeifer was Charlie's girlfriends daughter.
This is one horrible movie. I would not recommend this to anyone. It is shaky, do to the fact that it's a "found footage" horror film. Not worth it at all. And all of the hype it was getting was a lie.
