Review of The Gallows (2015) by Gary L — 16 Jul 2015
STORY: 20 years after an accident caused the death of a lead actor in the stage play the gallows a group of teens decide to destroy and stop the play from being performed again as people want to re-stage and honor the play but it soon becomes clear that some things should be left alone as Cassidy, Reese , Ryan and Pfeifer soon find out.
VERDICT; I'm a die hard horror fan and like these found footage cam movies but I lowered my expectations to see this as of all the bad reviews it is currently getting and walked in to the screening just too have a fun time and that's what I had. First off it is too short and should of been longer. The first 30 mins wasn't the best I have to admit and the guy(ryan) holding the camera is an idiot full stop but when they finally enter the school at night it had my attention and I actually was pleased with the outcome. Their are some quite creepy eerie scenes which make for a dark creepy atmosphere and a few predictable but effective jump scares. You see charlie a few times but in the distance mainly. The twist at the end I seen coming as you kind of think it during the film. The shaky cam I didn't mind like some people but you either love these kind of films or hate them and i'm in the middle for the gallows. It;s not as bad as most people are saying but its not perfect either. 3/5 stars.
