Review of The Future (2011) by Jon H — 06 Aug 2011
A really lovely movie from start to finish. She goes out on some quirky limbs here but for the most part it seems to work. Possibly because the truth and heart of the performances of the two leads really grounds the movie.
Yes, there is a talking cat. And a talking moon. And a guy who stops time. And plenty of other weirdness. But I didn't find these a distraction or a strain. I think it played off the emotional core of the story very well.
Although it wasn't quite as inspiring and amazing as her first movie (and ends up in a place I wasn't expecting) it's still an incredibly solid movie. I just hope there isn't such a wait for her next one.
