Review of The Funhouse (1981) by Brian C — 07 May 2011
Not very good, and very predictable, but enjoyable. You have your teenages, a mutant, and a bunch of carnies coming together in some Funhouse fun.
There isn't much gore and the monster mask was horrible, but there is a charm to this movie. What really works well is the relationship that is build up between the various characters. It is an odd move for a slasher flick to do this, but it pays off when the tension starts rising. The characters do act believably...well the tennagers do.
The only real letdown was that the scenes are so dark and the quality of the print isn't the best, so some scenes it is hard to see what is going on.
Worth a watch with some popcorn and good friends.
