Review of The Full Monty (1997) by Scott P — 12 Dec 2008
I dreaded watching the Full Monty, like any straight guy. I'm sorry I like girls but the movie isn't really about stripping. Its about job-less married guys (and one divorced separated from his kid) in an empty northern town of England. These guys are unhappy with their lives and their wife's are spending money at the chip n dales. These guys decide to make money by starting a strip-dance show and the group is really bad at it.
The film is well made. Its a feel good picture. There's genuine moments in The Full Monty. I wouldn't say its bland or same-old same old. There's moments that we've seen before. The plot is conventional, but what sells this film is the actors and the great script. If you want a film to root for or a good comedy, the Full Monty is well-made!
