Review of The Full Monty (1997) by Genevieve R — 21 Feb 2013
Hysterically funny at times; charming and sweet at others. I was entertained. Both sexy and hilarious; a winning combination. For a Canadian like me, the British slang was overwhelming at times, but I could still get the gist of things most of the time.
I wish I could have been able to find a version with subtitles. I loved the Sheffield accents which sounded a bit like Manchester accents. This movie definitely reminds me of Dodgeball. A bunch of underdog, wimpy and/or downright weird men get together to do something ridiculous for money.
It was fun to see a bunch of men get self-conscious, vain and nervous as strippers instead of women for once. I wish we had found out what happened to each of the men after their one-night engagement.
Did they continue their career as strippers? Did Gaz get visitation rights? I guess they got enough money from that one show to solve their problems.
