Review of The Fugitive (1993) by Daniel R — 12 Feb 2011
After nearly 20 years this still stands as my favorite action film. Harrison Ford is excellent as the wrongfully accused Dr. Richard Kimble. His character's understanding that he must either clear his name by uncovering the truth about his wife's death or face execution is constantly under the surface in Ford's performance, as his simple determination to know why she was killed.
Tommy Lee Jones is, as we all know by now, utterly brilliant as the U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard who will stop at nothing to bring Kimble in, though he increasingly suspects that he is innocent. The cat and mouse game between these two is engaging throughout the film and never once does the film have a dull moment, whether you're watching Kimble search for evidence or run for his life, or watching Gerard break down the case or lead his fellow Marshals in their pursuit of Kimble.
A truly great film.
