Review of The Frozen Ground (2013) by Dave J — 18 Feb 2014
This was a good film. Based on a true story of an Alaskan serial killer, this film is bolstered by solid performances by Nicolas Cage, Vanessa Hudgens and John Cusack. The movie is a hard R, it is filled with adult content, bad language, violence, nudity, drug use, and disturbing scenes.
What makes the film so good are the great performances. Everything else in the film from score to sets an d costumes were fine. Cage was great, Hudgens was terrific. And Cusack, well you've never seen him quite like this.
It was a compelling film, heart felt and rather somber and depressing. It is not the type of film that you could call "entertaining" but it was overall effective.
